Wetlands Interpretation Centre

Project Activities

  • Establish Management Committee with partner organizations (STU, SCJ Holdings, Clarendon Parish Council, NEPA, Social Development Commission, Chamber of Commerce, community rep)
  • Finalize Design and prepare drawings
  • Prepare bill of quantities 
  • Hire builder – and community labourers ( as far as practicable) 
  • Get permits/licenses – SCJ Holdings, NEPA, Parish Council, TPDCo
  • Construct center, board walk, dipping pond and dock (including solar panel, fencing, parking lot and sewage system)
  • Develop marketing plan and promotional material and signs
  • Develop security plan

Project Objectives

  • To demonstrate sustainability and best practices (energy, water conservation, recycling, hurricane and flood resistance).
  • To provide an educational/tourist facility
  • To provide an income source for C-CAM and residents of Portland Bight
