The “Generating Ambition for Locally Led Adaptation (GA-LLA)” programme, funded by the Government of the Netherlands and implemented by a consortium of global and regional partners, aims to support transformative locally led adaptation (LLA) actions to build community resilience against climate change impacts. In the Caribbean, CANARI is leading the regional implementation of the programme across five countries.
The programme is structured around four interrelated workstreams:
Supporting local actors in implementing
adaptation actions:
Providing grants, training, and mentoring to LLA champions to enable them to effectively design and implement community-led projects that address climate risks and environmental sustainability; and capturing best practices/models in adaptation financing from the experience.
Generating
evidence and knowledge
to drive scale-up of LLA: Conducting assessments and research around LLA and how it is applied; compiling case studies on successes, innovation and best practices; and promoting citizen journalism.
I
nfluencing
key finance actors to increase support for LLA: Developing relevant advocacy messages and products; facilitating multi-stakeholder dialogues; and engaging in key regional and global influencing opportunities/events.
Embedding
learning and monitoring
in local realities to inform decision-making: Facilitating virtual and in-person learning exchanges; and jointly developing a monitoring and evaluation framework, and tracking programme progress.
Each workstream supports grassroots leadership, enhances access to climate finance, and promotes sustainable community-driven solutions.
